Autumn Boots & Booties

Boot season is officially here. If you’re like me, the question of, “Is it time to break out the boots?” always crosses my mind when there is a cool, brisk breeze – Autumn is here.

When New York enters the transitional time of year, it can be cool in the morning, but scorching in the afternoon. I have to admit, I think boots can be worn year round depending on the outfit, style and of course the weather, but when Pre-Fall arrives with the beginning of transitional weather, boot season has begun.

How to Style

When styling transitional looks for boot season, there are a few key elements to consider in order to create a balanced and effortless outfit. Let’s get into incorporating layers, and styling!

Layers can range from a simple, light cardigan to an oversized shacket or blazer! Layers make it easy to add onto, or take away from an outfit when planned ahead of time. With boot season here, there are so many different boot styles to choose from. When deciding on wearing knee-high boots or booties, I always take height and length into consideration. I suggest wearing a knee-high, or over-the-knee boot when styling a mini skirt, or shorts. This will create length and balance. Booties are best worn with straight leg jeans, leggings, tights or under floor, length dresses.

Transitional Outfit Ideas

To create a casual, chic look. Wear straight leg jeans, with a long sleeve crop, and booties with a shoulder bag and gold accessories.

Oversized blazers are a hit, and I don’t think they’re going anywhere any time soon. Style an oversized blazer with a bodysuit, skirt and boots.

Style a sweater dress with over-the-knee boots, add a belt and jewelry to accessorize. Adding tights is also an option if the weather is colder then expected!

Lastly, a light blouse, or a chunky knit sweater paired with jeans and booties is a great way to break out the boots.
