How to Pack with Intention

How to pack with intention. Packing with intention is beneficial because you are able to make the most out of the pieces that you’re going to be bringing on a trip. Packing with intention will ensure that you’re packing only the items you’ll need, while making them as versatile as possible. I have the tendency to occasionally overpack, with the intention of wearing all of the different looks I had planned. I’ve learned that this only causes more problems, because I end up wondering if I properly packed everything back up when leaving and usually I end up leaving at least 1-2 items where I stayed. I’ve put together a guide on how to pack with intention. Making your duffle bag or suitcase as efficient as possible for a weekend trip!

Plan Your Outfits in Advance

Planning your outfits in advance is such a good idea. First, it gets you excited to be going on the trip. Second, you’re able to just relax and you won’t be worried about what you’re going to wear or if something looks good. When I plan, I like to make sure I coordinate my outfits with the itinerary, or have at least a general plan of what I’ll be doing during the trip. Once you do that, take a photograph on your phone of each outfit, and save it into a new album labeled for that trip so you can easily reference it!

Choose Versatile Pieces to Maximize Your Outfits

Choosing versatile options are key to keeping your travel bag light, while also maximizing your looks. Some great options to look for are basic t-shirts, button down shirts, and matching sets. These can help you mix and match with some of the other items you may pack. What pieces do you have that can be worn in multiple ways?

Lightweight Layers

Lightweight layers are always a good idea. They are easy to add onto an outfit to add a little warmth, while still keeping the look cohesive. A simple cardigan, lightweight sweater, jacket or coat are all great options.

Functionality & Comfort

Are you packing items that make sense, or just because they’re cute. Think about what you’re bringing with you and whether or not it makes traveling easier for you, or more difficult. A few of my must have functional items are a tote bag (preferably one that can fit a smaller shoulder bag in it), and comfortable shoes. I personally always bring a flat shoe option, a sneaker and a heel. If you haven’t broken into a new pair of shoes yet, they may not be the best option to bring. Lastly, a comfortable set of athleisure clothing because comfort is key and whether or jet setting or hitting the road you always need a set of comfortable travel wear.
