5 Things I’m Doing This Spring to Benefit My Mind

New beginnings, fresh blooms and longer days have arrived. I love finding ways to benefit the mind and boost well-being. Here are the simple things I will be doing this Spring to benefit my mind.
Waking Up Before Dawn
There is something really magical about waking up while the rest of the world is so quiet. It’s a great time to start your day by doing a workout, reading a book, meditating and working on your goals before the sun rises. Waking up before dawn helps me because I feel like it gives me so much extra time in the mornings. Then you can relax, and have a freshly brewed hot coffee while watching the sunrise and listening to the birds sing.
Gardening
You don’t have to have a big yard, or a fancy greenhouse to create and cultivate your own garden. Some fun ways to do this are to create your own herb garden in a planter or galvanized tub, create your own indoor garden pot or plant some wildflowers for the pollinators, or planting flowers around your home to create a flower garden. For me, working with my hands, growing my own food, and caring for the plants and flowers while then watching them bloom and harvest throughout the season is something I cherish, and find really special.
Morning Sunlight
There are so many benefits to this! Morning sunlight is so effective for me. It’s an instant mood booster, it may benefit your skin health by natural exposure to vitamin D, and may help you sleep better at night by naturally helping to reset your circadian rhythm. Check out more of the benefits here.
Nature Walks
Nature walks without any distractions help you connect to the beauty of the season and nature around you. Get off your phone, pay attention to each step, the trees that surround you, the gardens, and the wildlife you may see.
Grounding
The simple task of walking barefoot in grass, or simply laying in grass and connecting with earth may help with improving your mood. It’s one of my favorite things to do especially because a lot of time spent is spent indoors, and disconnected from earth. Read more about grounding here. As the weather warms up it’s so nice to just find a moment of stillness while grounding.
