With a variety of boot styles available, it can be difficult to choose which boots to invest in to curate a closet filled with timeless, and versatile options. Boot Styles
Knee-High Boots
Knee high boots have never gone out of style and there’s a reason for that. They add a chic element to any outfit. I especially love wearing them under a knit maxi dress, mini dress, or paired with a skirt set. Knee high boots are most popularly found in suede, or leather and often have a pointed, almond or square toe. Stiletto heeled knee-high boots always add a dressy element to an outfit
Thigh High Boots
The boot style that always take a mini dress, skirt or shorts, leggings and skinny jeans to the next level. Thigh high boots effortlessly create length by drawing the eye up. To create balance and length always ensure there is a gap between the top edge of the boot and the garment you are wearing. For example, if wearing a skirt that gap would be the upper thigh that is from the top of the boot to the bottom seam of the skirt. If you’re wearing skinny jeans, allow the waist of the jean to be seen with a cropped sweater or tucked shirt.
Ankle Boots
Ankle boots are incredibly practical and chic. My favorite way to wear them is under a flared. or wide leg jean, or layered over a pair of skinny jeans or fitted pants. Chelsea boots instantly come to my mind when I think practicality. They are perfect for walking, and great for those with a busy lifestyle. Ankles boots can also add height with a stiletto heel, block heel or a platform.
Waterproof Boot
A waterproof boot always comes in handy. Whether it’s staying stylish when it’s raining, snowing or there’s wet pavement. One of the things I used to struggle with when it came to waterproof boots is that I often found they weren’t very stylish, or sleek and they we’re somewhat hard to walk in. The ones below check all of the right boxes – stylish, functional and chic.
Choosing your Heel Height & Shape
I am known for wearing stilettos as often as possible, but I always have at least two flat pairs of boots just in case. If you live an active lifestyle. are often on the go, or walking everywhere. I would suggest having at least two pairs of flat boots to mix into your wardrobe. Consider choosing a style with a block heel as well. They can be more comfortable, and cover more surface area than a stiletto, so you don’t have to worry about cracked sidewalks or cobblestone as much. A heeled boot is best for short-term wear, date night, work or an event where you won’t be expected to be on your feet for extended hours.
Creating a timeless boot collection comes down to a few things. The quality of the boots, the versatility, the functionality and your lifestyle. Having at least one of each of the above boot styles, will help you effortlessly curate outfits all year long.
